The 8th post in our journey through the traditional carols of this Christmas season.
Verse 1: You quaint little village of Bethlehem! We see you resting quietly underneath the stars this night, completely unaware of the glorious light that is now appearing on your streets! Centuries of expectation are being brought to fruition this very night, while you are sleeping!
Verse 2: For the Promised One is born of a young girl this night! While the earth sleeps, all the angels of heaven are looking on with expectant eyes! They declare the birth of the Divine Child and sing about God’s honor and glory, while pronouncing blessing to the whole world! And you’re sleeping!
Verse 3: Isn’t it amazing how unobtrusively the Son of God arrives on earth? In this way, the Heavenly Father reveals His love and blessing to mankind. You may not be able to hear Him coming to you, but in the midst of a tarnished world, He will indeed come to those whose hearts are open to Him.
Verse 4: You special Son of God, we ask you to come into our hearts like that. Come and free us from sin; live Your kind of life through us. The heavenly messengers are announcing such wonderful things–the possibility of God and man dwelling together! Come, Lord Jesus! Live amongst us always!
It is very easy to live in ignorance of the amazing works of God in and around us. Let us journey through this Christmas season with open eyes, expectant to meet with God Himself!
